Description:

Located in Christianshavn at its southern-most end, next to the old ramparts, classic lunch restaurant Rabes Have is a small yet busy place with bags of old-world atmosphere serving traditional Danish open sandwiches and 'pariserbøf' (Danish-style steaks), accompanied by schnapps for those who really wish to follow local custom. The restaurant has been around for decades and has even been featured in a local TV-series; both popular and relatively inexpensive, it gets especially packed on Saturday afternoons. The highlight of the restaurant is its attractive rustic garden, where the classic lunches are served on little tables decked with green-checked tablecloths. Inside, the decor has a maritime influence, with low ceilings, plenty of dark varnished wood, green panelling and old pictures on the walls. Rabes Have has a long history: Grocer Rabes, who the place is named after, opened a distillery here in 1678.
