A trip to Costa Rica just wouldn't be complete without the country's signature tour of the jungle and/or rainforest from above, otherwise known as the canopy tour, or ziplining. Imagine yourself a modern day Tarzan/Jane, attached to high-tech cables and whisked from platform to platform far above the ground below but just skimming some of the towering treetops from which you'll swing, sometimes in the midst of the majestic trees. There are several tour operators who offer this adventure experience, but if you find yourself on the Caribbean coast, it is Terraventuras that has been offering this signature adventure for several years and have it narrowed down to something of a natural science. Once you're strapped into the harness, you'll begin the adventure by zipping from one platform to the next, brushing your toes to your face on treetops and being invigorated by the fresh rainforest air in your face. Several kilometers of zipline later, you'll understand the thrill the monkeys must feel when they are young, and you have earned your adrenaline-junkie badge for the day, if not your entire trip.
