Though a backpacker hostal, the décor and ambiance in Yamanyá are surprisingly elegant and chic. Subtle details like stone water features, glass encased artwork and ample, well-lit hallways, make this the most modish backpackers hostal in Cusco. High ceilings have the effect of making the dormitories appear airy and bright, and two colonial patios offer relaxing common areas in which to meet fellow travelers and play a game of ping-pong or foosball. Breakfast, access to computers, wireless Internet, a house bar, TV room, kitchen and stone pool (in the high season) are included as well as daily and nightly events like rock-climbing, Spanish conversation classes and themed barbeques. Additionally, Yamanyá provides an in-house tour agency and run tours of the Cusco area in a renovated, white and purple Volkswagen van. If traveling on a shoestring and without deadlines, Yamanyá is happy to employ backpackers in exchange for food, accommodation and discounted drinks.
