Description:

Pilrig House is a stunning, A-listed, 17th-century Scottish townhouse (built in 1638), which has a fascinating history and a wonderful literary connection – it was the home of Robert Louis Balfour Stevenson's mother's family – the Balfours of Edinburgh. RLS, as a child, often visited and played in the gardens here, and he mentions Pilrig House in many of his letters and novels, eg Kidnapped, and Catriona. Uniquely located on the edge of a tranquil park, Pilrig House is only a short stroll (and on a main bus route) from the city centre and all the main attractions.

The Park Apartment, Balfour Apartment and Garden Apartment each has its own unique character & charm. The apartments are beautifully furnished, immaculately presented & extremely comfortable, and offer: Free parking in a private car park to the rear of the house, Broadband Wi-Fi internet access, telephone with ansa service, beautifully appointed rooms, all with garden and park views, and Egyptian cotton towels, fine bedlinen, luxury Scottish toiletries, all utilities, and many other extras.

This enviable location, surrounded by lush parkland, offers total peace and seclusion away from city traffic noise, and the illusion that you are staying in the middle of the countryside, while being close to all of Edinburgh's attractions.
