Description:

Gorgie City Farm is a child-friendly working farm on a 1 hectare site with little fields and stables, styes and poultry- and sheep-houses. They have a horse, cow, goats, sheep, pigs, hens, turkeys and ducks, also an owl and a pussy cat!

Public small animal handling sessions are usually available at the Pet Lodge, Fridays and Saturdays, 2-3pm. Public pony rides will be offered where availability of trained personnel allows; mainly during school holidays, or by arrangement. In the 'Pet Lodge' building you'll see Rabbits, Guinea Pigs, Aviary Birds, rare breed Chickens, a snake, chinchillas, fish and tortoises!

On top of all this the Pet Lodge also runs several services for the public. Cuddle Corners are a chance for visitors to the Farm to meet and hug some of the small animals. While the Mobile Pet Service visits schools, nurseries, supported accommodations, hospitals and elderly residences with a range of the animals for therapeutic purposes.

Jemima's Pantry' is the city farm's own cafe, selling snacks and drinks and hot meals over lunchtime. You can eat outdoors in good weather.

Next to the cafe is the farm Playpark, which has a range of play equipment for the under-11's and a picnic area.

Gorgie City Farm is at the East end of Gorgie Road. The city farm is open every day 9.30-4.30 during British Summer time and 9.30-4 in Winter. Entry is by donation, suggested £2 per person.
