Description:

La Confluencia is both the place-name of where the Rios Azul and Blanco come together near El Bolson, and also the the lodge / estancia created by Mark and Ellie Jordan, Americans who first came to the Patagonia in the early 90s. La Confluencia is part of LEAF, the Land Ethic Action Foundation,  a teaching and demonstration center for sustainable self-sufficient living.

The lodge and farm is located within the Rio Azul Protected Natural Area (approximately 150,000 acres),  part of the world´s largest UNESCO Temperate Forest Biosphere Reserve, a terrain that includes old-growth forests, permanent snowfields, and river and lakewater that is still pure enough to drink.

In addition to hosting visitors to the lodge and spa, La Confluencia is actively involved in teaching local workshops on sustainable living techniques including organic farming and gardening, energy and resource efficient construction, and alternative energy source development.  They also host WWOOF (Willing Workers on Organic Farms) volunteers year round.
