Yes, Fairbanks has all the chain hotels that you'd imagine a small town in America would have, but it also has some unique takes on lodging when the time calls for it, the temperatures reach the appropriate freeze level and the sun falls out of the sky. What would you say to an Ice Hotel on the Chena River in the winter, next to hot springs and in the middle of a frozen postcard paradise? Sounds awfully mundane, doesn't it? Especially the Ice Bar. Do bring gloves.
