Fishermen's Village is one of the interesting places you can visit in the Charlotte Harbor area. A long, enclosed wharf that juts out from the Punta Gorda shore, Fishermen's Village required a multi-million dollar, three year restoration period after being hit broadside by Hurricane Charley in 2004. Fishermen's Village features seven restaurants, a long and varied list of interesting shops and boutiques where you can buy jewelry, swimwear, stylish men's and women's clothing, books, arts and crafts, toys, snorkel equipment and home furnishing. Or you can try wine tasting. On this long, enclosed pier with its many water views there is a massage salon and places to learn about local real estate, plus a Military Heritage Museum. Fishermen's Village also serves as the home base for cruise charters, fishing boats. and speedboat and kayak rentals. You can even spend the night or a full week or more in one of the large, second floor vacation villas, although those who like to go to bed early and do not share in the partying below might find the villas a bit noisy.
