Southwest Florida is best known for its warm Gulf waters and as a place to collect sea shells on our long, wide, white sand beaches. It offers active families and busy couples the opportunity to escape from the northern hustle and bustle and ice and snow. A place of everlasting sunshine, the Sun Coast officially begins north of Tampa and meanders south along the Gulf of Mexico shore to Naples. It is known for its serenity, in sharp contrast to the more exciting Orlando and to Florida's glittering, hyper Atlantic coast. At the southern end of the Sun Coast, from Naples and Marco Island on to the Everglades and the Ten Thousand Island area, local officials have renamed it the Paradise Coast. We don't blame them.
