NileGuide Expert tip:

Mule trips down the canyon are incredibly popular--make reservations well in advance of your Grand Canyon visit.

Description:

Grand Canyon National Park is more than panoramic views and outlook points. The Canyon is one-mile deep, and part of the fun of visiting the park is exploring the trails and scenic views from the inner canyon. And what better way to explore the inner canyon than on a mule ride? People have been taking mule trips down the Canyon for one hundred years, and it continues to be one of the most popular things to do while visiting the Grand Canyon. So popular, in fact, that reservations are recommended months in advance of your visit. Most mule trips are arranged through Xanterra Parks & Resorts, the company that administers the chain of popular hotels located on the South Rim. The Three Hour Abyss Overlook Mule Ride is the most popular, which passes through Ponderosa Pine and Juniper woodland and ends with amazing cliff-side views of the Canyon.
