Description:

This property includes both the RV Park and the Hotel Playa de Cortez, an old yet elegant Spanish-style hotel which was built in the 1930's. It is a historical property which sits on Bacochibampo Bay on the Sea of Cortez. This property boasts an incredible view of the Sea and the sunset. The feel of Old Mexico and a strong sense of history are definitely a part of ambiance of this property.

Down a long tree lined, cobble-stoned entrance, you will come to a huge fountain and The Playa de Cortez in Baccochibampo Bay, mid-way between Guaymas and San Carlos. With the feel of having been transported to another era and set down in an aging Hollywood movie set, this hotel is old and it shows. But that is fine because there is no other place which so quietly and assuredly speaks of a long-lost time of graciousness and stateliness.

The grounds with it grand fountains, expansive grassy yards and overgrown trees, bouganvillas and cacti will invite you to stroll the property at sunset yet reminding you that once this place was a spectacular destination! There is a boat dock, a sandy beach, tennis courts, a beautiful pool which has stunning views of sea just past the bouganvillas.

There is a dark and musty old bar with huge wood carvings overhead of Indians and conquistadors. Sitting here will give you a feeling of lost in time, also. There is also a restaurant on site.

This property is quiet and out of the way. It is just past the turn off to San Carlos. Continue on Highway 15 and at the north end of Guaymas you will take the Miramar exit. You can follow the signs and this road about a mile or so and you will find Bacochibambo Bay and through huge iron gates, the Playa de Cortes RV Park.
