Boise in the summer is extremely hot. Visit the gardens in the morning to enjoy the coolest part of the day.

Description:

The Idaho Botanical Gardens cover 50 acres nestled into a hillside on the eastern edge of the city of Boise. A children's garden is the newest project in process, which will be a place of beauty and learning for children. In addition to the traditional botanical garden features such as a rose garden, peony garden, and English garden, the Idaho Botanical Gardens include many themed areas promoting and educating visitors about flowers and plants native to this high dessert environment. Areas featuring native plants of Idaho, waterwise garden plants, and summer succulents demonstrate ways home gardeners can produce their own thriving xeric garden. A special firewise garden demonstrates plants that are more resistant to wild fire, of particular interest to many foothills residents. A meditation garden, a living labyrinth, and water features make this a peaceful place to spend an hour or two.

The gardens are a popular place to go for a morning walk in the heat of the summer. Weddings are also a frequent event here.

In the summer, Great Garden Escape Concerts draw folks to the garden for a relaxing evening of picnicking and music. Winter holidays at the Idaho Botanical Gardens bring a festive display of thousands of lights.
