Bebek is a very small, yet elitist town, down the hill of Etiler and Levent. What used to be a small, folk's town kind of the place, flourishes with the most rapid café and bar scenes today. Bebek was once really one of the most beautiful community on the shores of the Bosphorus. Legend has it that it was in itself a small fishing village. Rıza Captain who lived beyond 90 years of age is its legendary character. Accordingly, the port "İskele" was built by him for the first time. Nowadays, Bebek looks rather too spoiled to be a simple village. In fact, this is where you will see all the socialites, the singers, the models and the footballers on any given, sunny Sunday. Perfect place for Sunday brunches and perfect early night outs during the weekdays. Prominent bars and cafes include Lucca, Kitchnette Baronette, Happily Ever After and Mangerie. Recently opened Dükkan Burger features the best steakburgers in the city with fresh french fries off the frier. The waffle bars are another fineprint of the town -a delight that every Turkish person -even the most caloriephobic has tried and loved. Time passes in Bebek without notice. Apart from its lively cafe scene, Bebek also offers a lot of opportunity for nice and easy walks or rythmic runs by the coast. Grab a frappucino from the Starbucks and walk... As one walks, the famous and one of the best universities in town may become apparent to some on the hills of Bebek. The Egyptian Consulate (Valide Pasha Mansion) resides in a large waterside building in Bebek and the Bosphorus University sits on the nearby hills.
