Foyer de Charite is about a 3 hour walk from the main road in Musanze. (Also possible to take a moto all the way for about 3,000 RWF – but the walk makes you appreciate the beauty so much more!) It's a great way to see the Rwandan countryside and become a celebrity amongst the local children during the walk. The convent is beautifully set on the edge of a mountain overlooking Lake Burera: easily a place for a peaceful or spiritual afternoon. If you call ahead, they'll set out some Fanta and snacks for their guests. It is also possible to stay for overnight retreats.
