Description:

For an evening of extraordinary music, there's no better place than the Dewan Filharmonik Petronas (Petronas Philharmonic Concert Hall), at the Suria KLCC, home to the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra. Check if seats are available as tickets to top rated performances like Harry Connick Jr., Joshua Bell and Sumi Jo are often sold out. Weekday concerts (some for as low as RM10/ US$3) introduce music lovers to the halls' grand acoustics. The Family Fun Day series of concerts (mostly on weekends) are brimming with tons of surprises for the entire family – children and parents take part musically, interact and play games with the pros. The Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Center (KLPAC) in Sentul tops the list for local theater and musical productions. An old, rundown engineering workshop that was once used by the former railway company, Keretapi Tanah Melayu Bhd, has been stunningly transformed into a space for performing arts. Also make a stop at the Sutra Dance Theatre near Tasik Titiwangsa, with its outdoor platform, where young Indian classical dancers elegantly swivel their torsos to a traditional beat under the guidance of their world-renowned guru, Ramli Ibrahim. Quite magical.
