NileGuide Expert tip:

Downside- getting to the center may pose quite a challenge. You are required to park outside the gatehouse to queue up for tickets. Once purchased, make your way up to the building. You will also notice that some exhibits are unfortunately poorly maintained. The Science Center is located some 20 minutes outside the city.

Description:

You can spot the green dome of the National Science Centre as you near its premises. It is worth the visit- kids of every age will find that there's something for them to enjoy. On the way up to the center, you will pass by the outdoor adventure playground, sound gallery and mini zoo. An arched aquarium, full of fish, takes you through into the science center. Once inside, you go through an environmental odyssey before coming out under the big dome, right in the middle of the building. Here, there are different galleries (for kids ages one and upwards) plus plenty of interactive exhibits. Favorites include medical science, the human body, bridge building, transport, optical illusions and dinosaurs. Younger kids can head to the special area with dress-up clothes, giant Lego bricks and a ball pit. Preschoolers will love the jungle-themed gallery with an indoor forest while older kids might favor the perpetual motion machine. Adults, on the other hand, will find the little shop on their way out to be a curious stop full of fun toys and inexpensive scientific experiments.
