This is an excellent area for hiking at all levels in and around the Simplon Pass depending on your condition. But also easier trails are all around the hotel. In winter there is skiing at nearby Ross-Rothwald. Take the direct train to Brig from Lausanne or Geneva (or from other Swiss cities) and it's just a short taxi ride away.
