Lausanne Stopover
Description:
Losanna was the name that the Romans gave it and their ruins remain on the shores at Vidy near Ouchy. Modern Lausanne was built during the Middle Ages high on the hills and is crowned by the 12th century cathedral, Notre Dame (now protestant, of course) and a dramatic venue for many musical concerts especially for the organ.

Welcome to Lausanne! Check into your lakeside hotel in Ouchy, the port of Lausanne on Lake Geneva. You are just a short walk from many attractions such as the Olympic Museum and a long lovely promenadewith bordering gardens (the spicies are named).

Head back to the metro and take it up to the centre of Lausanne (Place de L'Ours) and then you can begin your walking tour downhill (unless you like a challenge).
Go left out of the metro station and follow the rue de Caroline to the Pont Bessieres (bridge). Walk to the right and you will see that you are going towards the cathedral. Do not look down if you have vertigo. From the brdige on the right side you can see mostly medieval and Belle Epoque buildings but alsosome modern parts of Lausanne.
