"Hi Rya, The following are nice places to check out in LA: - The Getty Center - museum is free, parking is $15 I believe - Malibu Beach - nice beaches, good restaurants, nice to walk around - Santa Monica - good place to walk around and get to a beach that isn't far too far from the Hollywood/Beverly Hills/Mid-City area of LA In Santa Monica, you can walk in on the Santa Monica Pier or the Venice Beach and Boardwalk."  See More

"The Getty Center The big one near the 405 has spectacular views of Los Angeles."  See More

"The Getty Center and The Getty Villa"  See More

"The Getty Center; LACMA; Walt Disney Concert Hall; The Huntington Library, Art Collections, and Botanical Gardens in San Marino; Norton Simon Museum in Pasadena; dim sum in San Gabriel; Porto's Bakery & Cafe in Glendale, where you might just spot Andy Garcia having his coffee; Santa Monica- take a bike ride down to the beach towns."  See More

"Another good place to explore is The Getty Center, just to walk around the gardens and lay on the lawn in the sun."  See More

"Also, a lot of locals hang out on the lawn at The Getty Center."  See More

"The next day, go to The Getty Center in Brentwood, stroll the Venice Beach Boardwalk, and have dinner at Gjelina (preferably on the terrace)."  See More

"I also loved LACMA The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA and the The Getty Center We rented bikes and cycled from Venice Beach Boardwalk to Santa Monica which was fab."  See More

"Plus, while LA does have some very nice attractions (The Getty Center), LA really isn't a very interesting or beautiful city like some."  See More

"Hi Lisa-Marie- Sounds like a great trip! I'll do my best to give you a few recomendations on unique places that are truly amazing. In SF- you really cant go wrong in the city. North Beach and San Francisco Chinatown are pretty great. Golden Gate Park as well. Haight-Ashbury is a little sad these days, and a tourist trap, but still worth checking out. If you make it to Haight St, check out Ceiba SF (!"  See More

"The Getty Center, Getty Villa- both free (need to pay for parking) and beautiful architecture and artwork."  See More

"*The Getty Center (Brentwood area) beautiful museum with beautiful grounds; popular tourist destination, but locals love it, too"  See More

"There's lots to do in LA, per your interests the LACMA is a great museum, The Getty Center is great with amazing views, the Griffith Observatory provides a great view of Los Angeles."  See More

"Hi, I would have to agree with Evi's suggestions! There are some that may overlap so bear with me: Venice Beach and Boardwalk- fun place to walk around and see the street performers and local vendors, muscle beach is there as well and sometimes they have entertaining competitions and such. This is definitely a day thing. Third Street Promenade - this is more of an evening thing if you want to see the street performers and get some shopping done along the way. It's a great place to people watch an walk around. The Grove While the selection of shopping isn't my favorite (which is good since you aren't looking to spend money), this is a fun place to people watch as well, you can pick a bench and grab an ice cream, participate in a free yoga class (or whatever is the class of the day - on the center lawn), you can hop on the trolley and ride to the other side of the mall to go to the Farmers Market which I'm sure will keep you entertained for a while. They have all kinds of food and things for sale. Hike any of the Hollywood HillsRunyon Canyon Park gives you a great view. The Griffith Observatory is a great place to see the city, you can walk around for free and take in the city, parking is also free! Taking a drive down Mulholland Drive offers free views of the city and a great drive. You can get tickets to see live tapings of your favorite shows. You can check out my answer to another Trippy member for details on how to order these tickets: "  See More

"Santa Monica's Big Blue Bus takes you to the The Getty Center and admission is free."  See More
