NileGuide Expert tip:

The KCPA allows drinks inside the theaters, as long as they're in plastic (don't try to take your glass from the bar into the lobby). No need to guzzle your wine just before the show starts.

Dance, opera, theater, comedy, concerts, community theater – the Kentucky Center has something happening in its four theaters year-round. The Broadway series, the Louisville orchestra, Louisville ballet and Kentucky opera all perform in Whitney Hall, while smaller performances take place in the Mex, Bomhard Theater and Brown Theater. The Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts opened in 1983 and gained national attention in 1984 as the site of one of the Presidential Debates between Ronald Reagan and Walter Mondale. Past productions and performances include Wicked, Stomp!, Janelle Monae, Liza Minnelli, the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater and the Moscow State Symphony. The Kentucky Show, a 32-minute multimedia show about the state is also shown here four days a week.
