Named after a neighborhood in Buenos Aires (and not the Italian city), Palermo Viejo is located on Bardstown Road in the Highlands. The special here is the free-range beef, served on individual, charcoal mini-grills. There are also pasta dishes, fish, empanadas and milanesas, lightly breaded, thinly sliced meat (chicken, steak or fish) or Portabella mushroom for the vegetarians. The wine list features all Argentine wines and is reasonably priced (around $20 a bottle). For dessert, try the banana ice cream or flan. Outdoor seating is available along Bardstown Road, right off the sidewalk – perfect for people-watching, although the passers-by may watch you (really, your food), too.
