Halfway to Forecastle began four years ago as a smaller event to mark the halfway point to the Forecastle Festival. Halfway to Forecastle traditionally focuses on electronic and hip-hop music and usually takes place in indoor venues around town in the winter months. Past artists include Kid Sister, LA Riots and Ekoostic Hookah. This year, because of Forecastle's delay until the 2012 10th anniversary, Halfway to Forecastle will take place on July 15. The main event, featuring Pretty Lights and Big Boi, takes place at Waterfront Park, with the after-party taking place at the Ice House.
