Description:

Consecrated in 1145, Lund Cathedral is not only one of Sweden's oldest religious buildings, it is also one of its most attractive, having undergone two restorations in its history - once in the 16th century and again in the 1800s, and its romantic-styled, sandstone exterior is Lund's foremost landmark, visited by more than 500,000 people each year. Among its many attractions is the horological time and dating machine from 1424 (still in working order!); the grand altar from 1398; the figure of Giant Finn, who guards the crypt; and the finely carved, 14th-century choir stalls. Guided tours are offered Mon-Fri at 11.15am and 2.50pm and at 1pm and 2.50pm on Sundays in June, July and August.
