This route explores the rugged terrain just northwest of Huddart Park, and the contrast between the county park and it's Phleger Estate neighbor could not be more extreme. Trading picnic areas and sports fields for a serene forest of coast redwoods, you climb the rugged eastern side of Kings Mountain on the aptly named Lonely Trail, then descend through the heavily wooded county park, a favorite among equestrians. Start near the park entrance kiosk and connect the following trails: Crystal Springs, Miramontes, Mount Redondo, Lonely, Richards (Road), Crystal Springs, and Dean.
