Description:

Ever since Hernando Cortez set sail west from Havana the links between Mexico and Cuba have been vibrant and strong. This includes the Mexican love for Cuban music and dancing, and there's no better place in the capital city to enjoy both than at Mama Rumba. The Roma bar and restaurant is hot – the in place for salsa, cumbia, and timba, and its dance floor is always packed with sweaty, hip swiveling couples. Most of the delirious crowd is in its 20s and 30s but at this popular nightspot, dancers of all ages will feel welcome. If you're not a dancer watch the action from the second floor balcony. If you want to learn, you can take classes on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. There's no cover charge for women on Wednesdays. Bar offerings include mojitos and piña coladas. Near Mama Rumba are Plaza Popocatepetl and Centro Cultural Casa Lamm.
