Description:

Located on a street named Champs Elysées (Campo Eliseo in Spanish), it makes perfect sense that Mexico City's Hotel El Presidente Intercontinental should house the excellent Au Pied de Cochon, a traditional bistro that is open 24-hours a day. The noisy, fun dining room impresses with its marble floors, crystal chandeliers, and hand-painted murals of frolicking cherubs (whimsical pink pig vases decorate each table). An angled mirror above the raw bar allows diners to watch oysters – imported from Brittany – being shucked and plated. Chef Yann Michel Cozic, formerly of L'Alsace in Paris, prepares finely presented fare such as classic onion soup, salmon in mustard sauce, and pork shank with green cabbage. For dessert, choose the crêpes flamed tableside with Grand Marnier. Saturday and Sunday brunch include eggs Benedict, and good strong French-style coffee. Service is impeccable. Locals and guests from the nearby W and JW Marriott come here, too.
