Description:

Coyoacan is located in the southern tip of Mexico City, a 20 minute cab ride from Chapultepec or Reforma. It is a five or six block area with an ancient church, a plaza, outdoor cafes, restaurants, bookstores and arts and crafts.

It is a wonderful place to spend a half day, you can walk around and go into the small shops or the local marketplace, sit at one of the outdoor cafés, visit the Frida Kahlo museum nearby or stop for lunch at one of the many typical Mexican restaurants in every price range.

Mexican families find Coyoacan a perfect place to relax on the weekends. The children enjoy the musicians, magicians and jugglers that dot the main square as well as the ice cream stands and all the candy and goodies that are offered. There are a couple of very well known bookstores and the market is a great place to walk around and be surprised by the diversity of arts and crafts. This is a great place to buy souvenirs to take back home.

Restaurants fill-up quickly at lunch time (between 2 and 4 pm) and sidewalk tables are especially in demand because in addition to being able to see all the people passing by, you can hear the musicians and singers playing nearby.
