Description:

For a supposedly 'budget' hotel perched just on the western edge of the city in historic Millers Point, and only a stone's throw from many of The Rocks' attractions, the slender pencil shape of the Palisade Hotel represents outstanding accommodation value, especially as a lot of rooms have Cockle Bay and Harbor Bridge views.
For one; it's got a history few pubs in the country can match, dating back to the 19th century when the area housed the main dockyards for the country. And that history is evident in the traditional working men's public ground floor bar. At once cosy, intimate and full of old- school ambiance, you're just as likely to share the bar with good natured dock workers as pin-striped businesswomen. Upstairs is an award-winning restaurant, which now does pre-theater dinners since the advent of new theater and entertainment venues in nearby Walsh Bay. I think its affogato vanilla bean ice-cream and espresso is one of the best in the city.
And the features don't stop there; the rooftop beer garden provides unrivaled 360 degree views. But you can forget this vantage point for New Years' Eve anytime soon; it's booked out for decades to come.
Accommodation is split between double and twin share rooms, some with balconies. Rates from only $120 per night. Quite simply, one of the bargain hotel deals of all time.
