Description:

The Museum of Monterey, known to many as MOM, isn't a history museum. Nor is it an art museum or a concert hall. It is in fact a mix of all three plus much, much more. Located in the heart of downtown Monterey, MOM provides visitors with an eclectic experience to immerse them in the history of one of California's oldest cities as well as get them up to date on what life here now is all about.

Whether MOM is hosting an art exhibit featuring pieces made from recycled trash or the canvas collections of Cheech Marin, MOM always surprises. Most of its exhibits pertain to life in Monterey, though some, such as a recent exhibit of works by Incubus lead singer Brandon Boyd, are simply put up for the enjoyment of visitors. It's galleries are filled with textiles, model ships, photos, and historical objects of every shape and size.

Hours of operation are: 10am-5pm, Tuesday-Saturday; 12pm-5pm, Sundays; Closed Mondays

First Tuesday of every month MoM is open FREE TO THE PUBLIC 3-5pm
