Chef Philippe Mongeau Is the master of this chic Mile End restaurant, presiding over a gleaming open kitchen and bustling restaurant framed by white-tiled walls and little white porcelain pots, and virtually everything is served on the bone.

There is an obvious attention to detail in this clean, restaurant of simple-chic white décor. But it's really in the food where A L'Os shines, which is why you often find the 50-person capacity restaurant filled to the brim.

All meats are served with the bone ("Os" is French for bones), giving the restaurant's name. Even cuts one thought were not from bones, Filet Mignon for example. And they are all prepared with a flair for quality and avant-garde sense of adventure, rooted in a French cuisine tradition. It's not unexpected to enjoy a subtle hemp and truffle infused Ostrich tartar as an hors d'oeuvre to go along your wine. A L'Os is one of Montreal's famous bring-your-own-wine restaurants, but you can also sample from their water list ("un carte d'eau") which highlights the 11 different European bottled waters carried in their water bar.  Other highly savory dishes are excellently prepared at A L'Os include lamb served with caramelized figs, venison, and wild mushrooms. The perfect way to end your meal at A L'Os is with their impressive selection of Québec cheeses served with honey, nuts, and grapes. A L'Os is a festive establishment perfect for launching into an evening of culture and joie du vivre!
