The prestigious and popular Palo Alto Clay & Glass Festival will once again welcome thousands of festival-goers to a free fabulous, fun-filled 2-day celebration of Clay and Glass Art on July 10-11, 2010. Featuring both fine and functional art, the Palo Alto Clay & Glass Festival is the largest show of its kind, with 180 artists displaying their work.Whether hand-blown or hand-built, thrown or slumped, stoneware or porcelain, glazed or decorated, this is the finest contemporary and traditional clay and glass art to be found anywhere. The Palo Alto Art Center provides the perfect lawn setting for an open-air weekend of browsing, shopping, or collecting.
Select from a wide array of original art pieces for the artful table, garden, and home. Discover quality, handmade clay and glass designed to last for generations. Choose from extraordinary hand-blown glassware, wheel-thrown stoneware, porcelain vessels, whimsical teapots, ceramic tiles, large-scale garden ornaments, functional desktop accessories, sconces, sculpture, jewelry, and more.
This free event offers visitors a chance to meet the artists and learn about their art, as well as a variety of engaging activities, including hands-on pottery-making and wheel-throwing demonstrations.
The festival is presented by the Association of Clay and Glass Artists (ACGA) of California. Marking its 65th Anniversary in 2010, the ACGA is the nation's largest non-profit membership organization dedicated to the advancement of ceramic and glass arts. Co-sponsored by the Palo Alto Art Center, the Palo Clay & Glass Festival will also feature two non-profit community art groups, Clay and Glass Arts Foundations (CGAF) and the Craft Emergency Relief Fund (CERF), celebrating their 25th Anniversary.
A rigorous artist selection process assures The Palo Alto Clay & Glass Festival's longstanding success and high quality. Juried by their ACGA peers, the festival's artists are widely acclaimed, and many are internationally recognized, with pieces on display as far and wide as the Grassi Museum of Applied Art in Leipzig Germany, the World Ceramic Biennial in Icheon, Korea, and the Ceramics Museum in Athens, Greece.
FESTIVAL HIGHLIGHTS:

• Hands-on Experiences. Clay for All workshops invite all ages to try their hand making their very own ceramic pieces.
• Live Ikebana Presentations. Vases selected from throughout the show give life to the art of Japanese floral arrangement.
