Haleiwa

There is just one word and one activity that Haleiwa made famous: surfing -- or to be more exact, big wave surfing. Home to some of the world's most famous surf breaks like Sunset Beach, the Banzai Pipeline, and Waimea Bay, the shores of Haleiwa are best visited in the winter. The town itself looks like a colorful town from a old Western movie: old wood building with deep porches. With only a dozen or so restaurants, and a handful of shops -- most of which rent surf gear and apparel -- Haleiwa is best enjoyed in the sand.
