Description:

Incredible views can be had at this typically unoccupied park at the end of Coulter Street which is off of Main Street (at Liberty Bank.) It's a quirky little park sharing space with a leaf dump but don't let that stop you from visiting here. The leaf dump is adequately removed from the newly developed and landscaped river overlook. If you drive up the hill and park enjoy a few picnic tables and benches while taking in the view of the mouth of the Connecticut River where it's expanse reaches for a mile to Old Lyme, Connecticut. Boats can be seen bobbing lazily in the morning, heron and osprey are plentiful and the quiet solitude is enchanting. If you prefer something a little more active bring a kayak as there is a put-in here, too. Just prior to going up the hill to the park proper is a gated path which is taken advantage of by more people. The flat path, which can be a little muddy, leads out to the water for direct water access. Families venture here with picnics and fishing gear and spend the day.
