Description:

A little coffee and a few couches. It doesn't seem like much but it's all a dad wanted. Believe it or not those two simple commodities were the inspiration for the indoor gym slash café slash playground with WiFi that is Stay and Play. The concept is simple; build a cool climbing apparatus with slides and a rope bridge, scatter some other fun gear throughout the space, add an authentic looking school bus that houses a few tables, toss in a couple of couches, serve good coffee and wholesome snacks then open the doors for anybody looking to entertain their 0-6 year old. All this sanity for a mere 8 bucks per child. Come and go as you please; no classes, no commitment, no sign up.
This place was created with parents in mind. The color palette is soothing and fun without being chaotic. No Raffi or sing-alongs just normal grownup music. The kids are so busy having a blast they don't care what the music is and you don't end up going slowly and inexplicably crazy with another rendition of The Wheels on the Bus. Stay and Play organizes trips in the summer (The Bronx Zoo last year), has summertime waterslides on premise, birthday parties, discount Play Passes, after school specials, and a small toy shop. Stay and Play is open 7 days a week from 9:30-5. Older siblings are welcome to bring books or games and hang out in the café area- there is no charge for them- but, for safety sake- are not allowed in the play area. Parents must stay with their kids but the area is set up so that you see your child from any of the comfy couches while visiting with friends. Can you beat it with a stick and a hoop? I think not.
