The cooking classes at Mom Tri's Boathouse are on a class of their own. Led by Sous-Chef Rattana Pholthaisong (who's also the chef for Mom Tri's restaurant and hotel), the classes are an excellent opportunity to learn traditional Thai cooking. Dishes include Tod Man Talay (deep-fried seafood cake), Tom Kha Gai (chicken soup with herbs and coconut milk), Khao Niew Mamuang (sticky rice with mango) and Sangkaya Fugtong (pumpkin custard). You can choose between a one-day or a two-day course, in which case you can stay at their hotel (for a small discount). Classes run on weekends between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. At 1 p.m., students congregate in the lunch room, where they can share the dishes they prepared and have lunch together. All students get a recipe booklet and a Mom Tri apron to take home. One-on-one classes are also available for those who want more personalized attention.
