Description:

One of the most picturesque places in Puerto Rico, the Parque de Bombas in Ponce, an old Ponce fire station, is situated in the main plaza, called Plaza de las Delicias. This historic building, famous for its long history and captivating design is now a historic monument and works as a museum in commemoration of the firemen that used to work here. The pavilion functioned for exhibitions in the late 1800s, specifically the 1882 Exhibition Trade Fair. It later turned into the first home of the firemen brigade, the first one in Ponce. The firemen were considered local heroes for their extraordinary work. The building continued operations for more than a hundred years, closing during the end of the 20th century. Today, the Parque de Bombas exhibits countless of articles from it glory days as well as many objects of historic importance. The building is admired for its early Spanish style architecture, with its castle-like design and painted red and black bands.
