Located in North Berwick, about 40 minutes south of Portland in the Maine Beaches region, Angel of the Berwicks enables its bed and breakfast guests to step back in time to the bygone Gilded Age in American history. The 25-room mansion has been acclaimed as one of the finest examples of Queen Anne-Eastlake architecture anywhere in Maine.

This edifice was built by Mary Hobbs, inheritor of her father's woolen mill, in honor of her second husband, Daniel Hurd. It contains remarkably well-maintained and preserved decorative features that were favored by America's emerging wealthy class at the turn of the last century. These include hand carved friezes depicting mythological Greek gods, intricate vine and grape leaves mouldings, and ornate, expansive solid oak staircases.

Today, Angel of the Berwicks offers a premier bed and breakfast experience that includes guest rooms with air conditioning and private baths, free Wi-Fi capability, and gourmet breakfasts. During the prime summer tourist season, regular tours of the mansion are also available.
