A newcomer to Portsmouth's busy restaurant scene, 106 Kitchen and Bar is already making a big splash with it's creative creole-influenced twist on New England favorite fare. Menu highlights include appetizers such as southern fried oysters with creole sauce and house pickled vegetables, as well as east coast yellow fin tartare tossed in a tantalizing sesame vinaigrette and served over Asian vegetable slaw
. It gets even better with entrees such as seafood gumbo with fresh mussels, Andouille sausage and oysters; creole style grilled chicken with pineapple salsa and dirty rice; and pork osso bucco simmered in a blackberry demi glace and served with roasted butternut squash. The setting is causal yet refined with a wide selection of wines and beers. Most entrees are reasonably priced (most are under $20 each). For an adventure in dining, 106 Kitchen and Bar is worth a visit.
