Description:

This Puebla Autonomous University (BUAP)'s building is a fine example of Puebla's colonial architecture. With 3 interior patios, a main lobby and an imperial staircase with large oil paintings, this school is worth visiting. The Baroque Room, where the chapel used to be, had one of the oldest and most beautiful stalls in the New Spain, and it still can be visited.

Originally, the Colegio del Espíritu Santo was a Jesuit school, until 1765 when they were expelled from the country. When they came back in 1819 the school was reopened with the name of Real Colegio Carolino del Espíritu Santo. In 1937 it became the University of Puebla, until 1956, when the BUAP was created.
