Description:

For legend and history, you just cannot pass up the quaint Posada la Roca! This 80 year old stone hotel is purportedly the oldest building in town. Legend has it that this was Al Capone's hide out in the 1920's during Prohibition in the States. This place has atmosphere, baby! And it feels like Old Mexico.

This hotel sits at the entrance to the Malecon area and in the heart of the Old Port. The hotel is built of quarried stone. The hallway, made of stone with skylights and plants growing overhead, leads to several rooms. The rooms are comfortable and homey.

There is a common living-room area, where you may relax or read. There is a small, shady patio for napping in the afternoon or people-watching. There is free coffee and internet. At La Roca, you will feel like you are visiting a friend at his historic home.

The up side: Great location. Close to the ocean, the Old Port, the Malecon, Fish and shrimp market, Restaurants and night life. Extremely budget priced. This place has incredible 'Old Mexico' ambiance!

The down side: Downtown location which means it can be loud outside. No private parking which could possibly present a security problem.
