Catch a breeze and watch boats sail away from the harbor at this famous boardwalk in Ponce. El Paseo Tablado La Guancha or just La Guancha, like Puerto Ricans call it, faces the Ponce Yacht and Fishing Club and is a hub for local socializing and family gatherings. Teenagers, couples, entire families and just about everyone make the boardwalk the lively place it is. Flanked by several kiosks, bars, a concert pavillion, restaurants, an observation tower and a beautiful beach, La Guancha is a staple and one of the most well known attraction in Ponce.
Lively crowds congregate during weekends to dance to the rhythms of salsa and to savor their favorite fried food, making it a definite favorite among locals and visitors. Local artisans are also found here and offer creative pieces of jewelry and other souvenirs.
La Guancha can be found a few miles out of downtown Ponce. La Guancha is not at all fancy, but the come to experience authentic food and mingling with the locals in a relaxed and family oriented atmosphere.
