South of Puerto Viejo in the quiet beach community of Play Chiquita lies Miraflores Lodge and its attached Rainforest Cafe. Pamela and her staff serve good coffee and a hearty menu of Caribbean, European and American breakfast and lunch plates, and fresh fruit smoothies too. The tables and chairs are rustic wood, and the seating is around the tiny kitchen/hotel reception, beneath a thatched roof that indeed feels nestled in the rainforest, though the road is only a few feet away. Look for sloths in the trees on the property, and check out the impressive exotic flowers bursting from the grounds.
