Description:

150 kilometres of New Zealand gold mining history is yours for the cycling, or tramping (hiking) or whatever you want to do. And, the best thing is that it really was a railroad so the entire thing is of easy gradients. There are a lot of accommodation options along the way so you can either pop in a have a look at various points, or follow it until you are tired and get a bed. It starts at the town of Clyde to go through Alexandra after 8 kms, continues on through more towns until finally finishing at Middlemarch. It's basically Queenstown to Dunedin and you can hop on or off at any point provided you have transport arranged.
