Bars and clubs near Tijuca Park, Rio de Janeiro are certainly plentiful - not least because the vast scale of this stretch of urban jungle means that its borders stretch into many areas of the Zona Sul.
Depending on where you enter or exit the park, you may find yourself close to the chic bars and cafe culture of Leblon, the lively, well-to-do concentration of bars in Baixo de Gavea; in leafy Laranjeiras, or up in the hills of Santa Teresa
The latter is home to Clube Lagoinha, which sits well into the mountains, surrounded by verdant jungle. You'll get an up close view of the Christ statue from here, as well as stunning views over the city center from the outdoor pool. With eclectic club nights throughout the summer, this is well worth getting off the beaten track for.
Elsewhere in Santa Teresa, bars such as the much-loved Bar do Gomes provide opportunity for getting to know the locals, while late-opening Simplesmente is a good place to get late night food and drinks.
There are countless bars in Leblon, of which Devassa and Jobi are enduringly popular spots, while Bar Lagoa is a romantic option by the lake.
