Description:

This 600 acre site was developed by the famous Irving family to help protect this pristine and unique part of the Fundy coastline. This is truly one of the jewels of the beautiful New Brunswick coast plus admission to the park is absolutely free. If you are going to be in the Saint John area, this attraction is a "must see". The park is just a short drive west of the Saint John core and there is lots of parking. The rugged terrain of this park is composed of volcanic rock and hearty trees … it makes for a substantial hike too. There are places to picnic with gas barbeques, there are well manicured hiking paths and lookouts, plus tides build and recede twice per day. There is a salt marsh boardwalk and mud flats along one side of this spectacular peninsula and a large rocky beach on the other side. There are activities in the park throughout much of the year such as snowshoeing, interesting educational tutorials, astronomy programs, geo-caching as well as plant & butterfly information sessions. Bring comfortable, weather appropriate hiking clothing and a good camera as you will see a wide variety of birds and wildlife.
