Open since 1984, IME is Utah's oldest and most specialized climbing-specific store. And the truth of this can be proven by the fact that IME remains happily in business despite its nearly next-door location to the famous, national outdoors store, REI. Whether you're looking for climbing guidebooks to Utah -or almost anywhere in conceivable driving distance-, climbing shoes, ropes, clothing, outerwear, or gear, IME should have most any need covered. Plus, if you just want to "talk shop", the guys that work here have been climbing the Wasatch Range's rocks for decades -and have also climbed and guided around the world and North America. So they should be able to give advicde -whether you need general suggestions for a sport climbing area, or you need season-specific information on a particular route. In addition to their main, retail section of the store, there is also a back room dedicated to consignment. Here you'll find a good variety of used clothing, shoes, boots, and more.
