NileGuide Expert tip:

Owner Brian – who is not named Murphy – a sometimes cantankerous man from Co Cork, prefers Americans to ask to use the 'Jacks' or Toilet rather than the 'bathroom'.

Description:

An authentic Irish pub – owned and operated by an Irishman – in a small side street in the Altstadt, Murphy's Law is popular with locals and students. Carved into the side of Mönchsberg, it occupies a deep, cave-like space that is hung with the banners and pennants of universities and sports teams from Ireland, the United States and other countries. The lively crowd often spills out into the small street out front, the only place smoking is permitted. Irish beers and whiskies, some not found elsewhere in the city, are available. The laid-back atmosphere is typically Irish, with sports TV and free WiFi. Tip: Owner Brian – who is not named Murphy – a sometimes cantankerous man from Co Cork, prefers Americans to ask to use the 'Jacks' or Toilet rather than the 'bathroom'.
