Description:
A Salzburg institution, The Republic is a hip coffeehouse, bar and café right in the heart of the Altstadt. Friday and Saturday nights, however, it morphs into a nightclub presenting cutting-edge, multicultural parties and concerts. Musicians, DJs, writers and performers from all over Europe entertain audiences of up to 700 in its state-of-the-art hall. Its cutting edge concerts and parties live up to the club's ambitions of promoting "Deprovincialization and exterritoriality." It is "a place of deconformity, without boundaries, open for art, culture and communications." Its bar, open to 11 p.m., is styled like an American bar of the 1950s.
