Day 1 - San Diego

Start your weekend by staying in the center of the city - downtown. If you're planning on doing most of your work or relaxing near the beach, don't book a hotel in Gaslamp; however, if you're thinking you'll hit up east county, El Cajon, La Mesa, Mission Valley and any in the area, downtown will be the highlight of your trip.

Start with something touristy - Balboa Park. Spend as much of your day here as you can, enjoying the San Diego weather the area is most recognized for. Before catching dinner at local favorite Sea Rocket Bistro in North Park, check out Petco Park where you'll be able to either see the Padres or simply enjoy the view.

Day 2 - San Diego

Your stay might start off slow, but as you hit up neighborhoods surrounding your hotel you'll work up a sweat - and an appetite. Though it might not seem like the most conventional place for breakfast, just inside Little Italy's neighborhood is Extraordinary Desserts, a place where the coffee accents each homemade treat perfectly.

Enjoy a leisurely stroll through Little Italy, and finish your night in some of the area's most famous Italian restaurants for pie - Filippi's.

Day 3 - San Diego

Today should be about shopping - even if you're not staying in the infamous "hotel circle," enjoy the sights of the true cliche with strip mall after strip mall. You'll find everything you need, and then some. Check out the Charger's Stadium Qualcomm while you're there, and even local university San Diego State.

Just because you spent an entire day in commercial heaven doesn't mean you should forget about what San Diego is best known for - it's specialties. Find something totally unique to the area at The Linkery, a meat-lovers paradise just outside of downtown.
