NileGuide Expert tip:
Go just before sunset to enjoy the golden light of the evening over the Marin Headlands.
Just off the road to the Point Bonita lighthouse to the west of the Golden Gate Bridge, Rodeo Beach has a wild feel that belies its location only a few miles from the bridge. Beachgoers are a combination of surfers, local families, and some tourists. While it can be windy and cool, a short walk up the headland just to the north of the beach yields a panoramic view of the geography that makes the Golden Gate area justly famous around the world. There's also a marine mammal center nearby.
